French Public service company (Waste Agency), independent of waste producers, that reports to the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry and the Ministry of Land Use Planning and the Environment. Created in 1979, ANDRA is classified as an environmental protection entity that provides three services: - industrial disposal of short-lived radioactive waste, - research on very long-term management solutions for long-lived waste, and - registration of all radioactive waste on French territory.
ASN is the French Nuclear Safety Authority. In June 2006, ASN became an independent administrative authority and did not modify the scope and content of the missions until then issued by the General Directorate for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (DGSNR) and the Nuclear Divisions and radiation protection (DSNR).
